諾定咸森林 Football Club Review

In 1865 a group of shinty players met at the Clinton Arms on Shakespeare Street in 諾定咸森林 and a club was formed. 諾定咸森林 was to become 諾定咸森林 Football Club and, over the next century, the club would win a total of three league titles, one FA Cup, four League Cups, two FA Charity Shields and two European cups as well as numerous other accolades. During the first half of the twentieth century 諾定咸森林 dipped up and down the divisions, battling financially at times. However, the seeds of a rebuilding project were well and truly sown in 1957 when the club won promotion back to the Premier League 諾定咸森林.
The most successful period for the club came under the management of Brian Clough and Peter Taylor in the late 1970s and early 1980s, winning back-to-back European Cups. They also won the League title in 1977, their only Double.
Clough's era saw Forest play attractive, attractive football in the top flight and beat Liverpool in the League Cup final, a feat that was only equaled by Manchester United. Despite this, the team failed to make it into the new version of the Premier League in 1991, finishing eighth and missing out on automatic promotion by a single point.
As well as a penchant for attractive football, Forest have always played a fair game of football, displaying a willingness to concede possession in order to gain quick attacking opportunities. This style was adopted by the likes of Harry Cooper, who played at the City Ground from 1992 to 2002.
He was also a player who enjoyed playing in front of crowds of 40,000+ and was able to use his height to good effect. In his time with the Reds, he scored a total of 83 goals in 236 matches and was regarded as one of the finest finishers in British football history.
Robertson became a cult hero for the Forest faithful and he remained a popular figure at the club throughout his career, helping them win the League title in 1979. The following year he played a key role in the club's success in the European Cup.
During this period the club were considered to be a serious contender and the signing of the likes of John Robertson and Bobby McKinlay were seen as a huge boost for the team. Robertson went on to play a pivotal role in the club's European triumphs, setting up the winning goal against Malmo and scoring the winning goal against Hamburg in the 1979 final.
Another key member of the Forest squad was Peter Shilton, who was a major England player in his own right, earning 76 caps. Similarly, the centre-half Bob McKinlay is regarded as one of the greatest ever players to wear the famous Garibaldi Red.
The Forest Years
As well as enjoying the benefits of a lucrative international transfer policy, Forest were also able to develop some of their finest players through their prestigious youth academy. The club's reputation for producing high quality players was reflected in their third place finish in the 1988-89 season and they reached the League Cup final a year later.
