Advantage of CNC Machined PTFE Parts

    Wear Resistance

Wear Resistance: PTFE CNC materials exhibit excellent wear resistance, capable of withstanding high friction and high-speed conditions. This enables machined PTFE parts and components manufactured through Teflon CNC machining to maintain stable performance and prolong their lifespan.

    High Precision Machining

High Precision Machining: Machining PTFE is a precise computer-controlled machining method that achieves high precision processing. CNC machining of PTFE materials allows for precise control of dimensions, shapes, and surface quality, ensuring accuracy and consistency of the parts.

    Machining of Complex Shapes

Machining of Complex Shapes: TEFLON milling offers excellent flexibility and programmability, making it capable of processing complex-shaped parts and components. Custom PTFE materials have good plasticity, allowing for CNC machining including 5 axis CNC machining to meet various intricate processing requirements, including internal and external profiles, holes, and grooves.

    High Temperature Resistance

High Temperature Resistance: PTFE CNC materials possess exceptional high temperature resistance, maintaining stability in high-temperature environments. Custom PTFE parts and components manufactured through PTFE CNC machining can withstand high-temperature applications, such as in high-temperature chemical reactors and engine components.

    Features of PTFE/Teflon CNC Machining

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) resin, commonly known as the ""Plastic King,"" is widely used in various industries due to its unique properties. The PTFE plastic possesses high-temperature resistance, non-oxidizing and non-dissolving characteristics, exceptional chemical stability, and excellent dielectric properties, making it an indispensable material in industries primarily focused on chemistry and mechanics. Machining PTFE resin is typically in the form of powder or dispersion, with a high molecular weight (8.88×106 to 3.17×107) and high crystallinity (92% to 98%). The PTFE plastic sheet has a melting point of 327°C and contains strong F-C bonds in its molecular structure.

    Descriptions

    Properties

    Chemical Resistance

The PTFE plastic is inert to most commonly used chemicals, except for reactions with molten sodium metal, fluorine, strong fluorinating agents, and sodium hydroxide above 300°C.

    Heat Resistance

The PTFE plastic sheet does not undergo thermal aging below 260°C.

    Electrical Properties

The machining PTFE has excellent electrical insulation properties, high arc resistance, a volume resistivity greater than 1×1016Ω·m, and is not affected by temperature variations.

    Lubricity

The custom PTFE has a low friction coefficient within a wide temperature range.

    Radiation Resistance

The Teflon CNC retains 50% of its original tensile strength even at maximum irradiation doses in a vacuum.

    Low Permeability

The PTFE CNC exhibits low permeability to most gases and liquids, except for fluorocarbon compounds with similar compositions.

    Weather Resistance

The laser cutting Teflon is unaffected by climatic conditions and can withstand exposure for over 10 years.

    Non-Flammability

The cutting Teflon has an oxygen index exceeding 90.

    Non-Adhesive

Virtually all adhesive substances do not stick to their surface.

    High And Low-Temperature Resistance

It can be used within a temperature range of -250°C to 250°C. Due to its exceptional properties, PTFE is often referred to as the "Plastic King" and finds widespread applications in defense, aerospace, petrochemical, electronics, mechanical, and various other industries.

    Characteristics

Low Cutting Forces, Poor Thermal Conductivity, And Heat Resistance

During PTFE CNC machining, the cutting forces are approximately six to seven times smaller than those for metals. However, due to its low thermal conductivity and lower heat resistance compared to metals, the cutting speed needs to be reduced to prevent plastic softening and tool sticking.

    Non-Uniform Structure And Strength

Plastics consist of multiple components and their molecular structures exhibit various patterns, resulting in non-uniformity that hampers machining. Therefore, sharper and more wear-resistant cutting edges are required for PTFE laser cutting tools.

    C. Severe Tool Wear And Susceptibility To Brittle Cracking

PTFE machined parts often contain various fillers and additives, such as glass fibers, which make them challenging to machine. Tools wear quickly, and after tool blunting, cracking, and edge chipping can occur under high extrusion forces.

    High Thermal Expansion Coefficient

The thermal expansion coefficient of plastics is three to four times higher than that of metals, affecting dimensional stability and posing challenges in cutting operations.

    Difficulty In Chip Formation

During PTFE turning and drilling operations, the chips formed from custom PTFE tend to be stringy, clinging to the tool and getting compressed together, which adversely affects the machining quality.
