Carter's warnings have been vindicated time and again

BEIJING Bennie Fowler III Color Rush Jersey , June 2 (Xinhua) -- The United States is abandoning its role as the global champion of human rights, said former U.S. President Jimmy Carter in an op-ed published in The New York Times in 2012.

Carter's warnings have been vindicated time and again over the years, during which U.S. media and politicians have constantly criticized other countries for alleged human rights violations, while turning a blind eye to problems at home.

The death of Michael Brown whose killing sparked the Ferguson unrest and a series of UN reports revealing myriad U.S. human rights violations are all stark reminders for the United States that there are a lot of human rights violations on its own soil.

Revelations that more than two people were killed by police a day on average in the United States during the first five months of this year is the most recent proof of how far the country's human rights violations have extended.

While a national debate is raging about the overuse of force by the police, The Washington Post is compiling a database of every fatal shooting by police in 2015.

In an investigation published on Saturday, The Washington Post revealed that at least 385 people were shot and killed by police across the United States during the first five months of 2015. That is more than twice the rate of fatal police shootings tallied by the federal government over the past decade, a count that officials concede is incomplete.

The findings of The Washington Post show that about half the victims were white Allen Robinson II Color Rush Jersey , half minority. But the demographics shifted sharply among the unarmed victims, two-third of whom were black or Hispanic.

Overall, blacks were killed at three times the rate of whites or other minorities, said The Post.

According to the investigation, among the victims, 49 people had no weapon, while the guns wielded by 13 others turned out to be toys. In all Eddie Jackson Color Rush Jersey , 16 percent were either carrying a toy or were unarmed.

In the United States, police are authorized to use deadly force when they fear for their lives, which is used by some as an excuse to abuse power and to kill.

However, the majority of law enforcement officers accused of brutality were not prosecuted in the end.

So far, just three of the 385 fatal shootings have resulted in an officer being charged with crime -- less than one percent, according to The Post's investigation.

The low rate mirrors the findings of a Post investigation in April which found that of thousands of fatal police shootings over the past decade, only 54 had produced criminal charges.

Such findings help people form a better understanding of the real human rights situation in the United States Tarik Cohen Color Rush Jersey , where escalating police brutality poses a serious threat to its people's lives, liberty and personal security.

While the freedom and rights of its own citizens are being increasingly jeopardized, the United States needs to reflect on its own human rights situation before attacking others on this issue.

NEW YORK, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- For 23-year-old Zuleima Dominguez, the Trump administration's decision to rescind a program that shields young immigrants brought into the United States illegally as children from deportation Adam Shaheen Color Rush Jersey , means she might relive the fear that had once haunted her for more than a decade.

Born in Mexico, Dominguez arrived in the United States when she was seven years old. Her parents pinned hope on her opportunity to receive higher education and find a good job that they had never had in Mexico.

For more than a decade, Dominguez was living in the fear that she might be exposed as an undocumented immigrant and had to struggle to pay for her college.

It was the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, that lifted her out of despair and inferiority.

Under the program implemented in 2012, recipients receive a renewable two-year period of deferred action from deportation and eligibility for a work permit by applying to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Approximately 800,000 people have participated in the program across the United States and they are often referred to as Dreamers.

Dominguez was able to apply for a scholarship Mitchell Trubisky Color Rush Jersey , become a full-time student, travel outside the United States, and most importantly, feel like a U.S. citizen.

"I thought I was never going to graduate (from college), and then DACA happened. DACA changed my life," Dominguez told media on Wednesday.

However, the White House announced on Tuesday that the DACA is being rescinded. President Donald Trump said in a written statement that he is looking forward to working with the Congress to finally address all of these issues "in a manner that puts the hardworking citizens of our country first."

The move met strong protest from many attorneys general Anthony Miller Color Rush Jersey , mayors, business leaders, labor unions and immigration advocates, among whom, 15 states and the District of Columbia filed a lawsuit on Wednesday.

The lawsuit details how the Trump administration has violated the Equal Protection clause of the Constitution by discriminating against Dreamers of Mexican origin, who make up 78 percent of DACA recipients, violated Due Process rights James Daniels Color Rush Jersey , and harmed states' residents, institutions, and economies.

New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman said in a news conference that there is no good reason to end the program because the Dreamers play by the rules, work hard, pay taxes, and have a clean record.

"For most (of the Dreamers), the United States is the only home they have ever known. They deserve to stay here Roquan Smith Color Rush Jersey ," he said, adding that the Dreamers are making America great.

"Immigration is the lifeblood of New York State. The Trump administration's decision to end DACA is cruel, inhumane, and devastating to the 42,000 New Yorkers who have been able to come out of the sha. Cheap Jerseys Free Shipping   Cheap Authentic Jerseys   Cheap Jerseys China Wholesale   Cheap NFL Jerseys China   Cheap NFL Jerseys   Cheap NFL Jerseys China   Cheap NFL Sports Jerseys   Wholesale Jerseys   Wholesale Jerseys   Wholesale NFL Football Jerseys
