Are you busy farming Jad Pet now? Wait one minute, and sailing to the oceans of Gielinor is in development and will be released as a skill next year. It is announced that this skill will allow players to not only build a ship, but also explore the random as well as unknown world with the incorporation of existing skills and be granted new resources.
Feature: The core of sailing is exploration and adventure
1 . Train sailing skill in different ways as you like. For instance, you can hire workers to build fleets for sale or for navigating. Or you can explore the open seas and becomes an experienced sailor in challenges.
2 . Explore the randomly generated seas by yourself. It is not only sailing a boat around, but exploring the unknown and unexplored waters of Gielinor. Each time you take your ship, you should have no idea what come your way, and the maps are randomly generated, filled with various challenges.
3. New monsters with unique new loot within underwater caverns. Sailing will lead you to underwater caverns or lawless seas, Cheap Deadman Gold where battles are common and new monsters appears for a chance at brand new loot.
4. The incorporation of current skills. When exploring underwater, your present skills, like crafting, construction and smithing, are also required.
Note: sailing will never change anything in the current release schedule. Deadman mode is coming in October and Zeah is still planned for June next year.
Sailing, different from Dungeoning, may modify based on feedback
It is a big change to the game, and there is still a way to go before it is polled. Now, the developers need players’ feedback to improve the design. Currently, quite a number of gamers request to never make sailing a skill. Jagex expressed that they would be happy to change its contents or mechanics in future. Meanwhile, they claimed that sailing is different from dungeoning. Dungeoning was very self-contained and what you achieved within the dungeons only really served to benefit you in the dungeons, but that will not be the case with sailing.
Honestly, this update sounds fantastic. Even to make cruising happen and make it a quality update, there will be two developers on the way to RS07. And more specifics will be unveiled next week.
