Keep Pig Feeding Simple

    It can be difficult to learn how to raise a healthy pig. You may be like me and have read all the articles about pigs but aren't sure where to start.

    It is helpful to think of pigs as people. There is a lot of information available about what it takes for pigs to thrive. We can only filter the information and try to eat well with the resources we have. Same goes for pigs. Use locally available grains for your pig feed

    Imagine what wild pigs would eat. They would hunt for roots, fruits, leaves, flowers, and other plant material. They would happily eat some meat. They would thrive, be energetic and strong if they had plenty of food. Sometimes, however, it might be more difficult to find food.

    It is very different to raise pigs on farms. It is important to raise a healthy, nutrient-dense animal in a short time. We want our animals happy and healthy. We also want them to be productive.

    It is not wise to leave our pigs alone in the bush, without giving them any food. It's also not a good idea to confine our pigs in a stall, offering them only the food that will help them gain weight quickly. Balance is key.

    Perhaps there is a way to make pigs profitable.

    Perfectionism takes practice. Being beginners is not an option. We need to make feeding pigs easy. Let's feed them with the resources we have.
