Original USFL vs. new USFL lawsuit, explained

The original USFL is suing the new USFL fortrademark infringement, false advertising and false a sociation related to their league name, logos and uniforms.

"The Real USFL, LLC" filed the complaint in a California federal court on Monday. The plaintiff alleges that the new Daniel Hudson Jersey USFL is "an unabashed counterfeit" and that "it has no right" to the league's name as well as the names and logos of each of the eight teams.

The suit also contends that the new USFL "has traded on the false narrative that Foxs League and USFL teams are the offspring of the original."

"Fox could have easily started its own league with new teams, but instead chose to take the goodwill and nostalgia of the original league without the permi sion of the people who actually created it," attorneyAlex Brown said in a pre s release. "Fox cant dispute that the Real USFL Michael A. Taylor Jersey marks are recognizable and valued because theyre using them and purposefully confusing its league with the original. Rather than do the right thing, Fox has chosen to try and bully the prior owners into submi sion. Thats not going to happen."

This isn't the first time that the original USFL has come after the new, Fox-backed league. They also and entered negotiations with Fox about it.

However, nothing came of those talks. Fox claimed that the trademarks had been abandoned, as the league had been defunct for more Carter Kieboom Jersey than 30 years and last played a season during the spring of 1985.

    What's next for the USFL?

The new USFL will have to either fight these allegations in court or come to some sort of settlement with the original USFL in order to Raudy Read Jersey allow their season to begin on time.

The original USFL appears to have a compelling case in the realm of false advertisement and a sociation. The new USFL claimed to be "relaunching" in a 2021 pre s release that has since been changed to reflect that it has no a sociation with the original league.

As part of a lawsuit filed on behalf of owners & executives from the original USFL against the new USFL, they cite a Fox pre s release that looks different now than its original form.

The trademark case could get Kevin Long Jersey a bit trickier depending on which parties have ownership over the team names and logos. But either way, as Larry Csonka, the initial manager of"The Real USFL, LLC" pointed out, there was likely a reason that Fox wanted to use that branding.

"It boils down to this," Csonka said, . "If the USFL doesnt have any value, why did Fox want it?"

The new USFL is set to kick off on April 16. We'll soon see if their first season is delayed by this lawsuit.
