    The dye system in Diablo IV will allow players to D2R Items change the color scheme of their armor, such as switching silver to gold, or replacing an old white cloth with a black cloth. According to lead character artist Arnaud Kotelnikoff each piece can be dyed by one of the colors you choose, or the same palette may be applied to every piece.

    "This system was difficult to develop because some metal and other materials are not able to be dyed with inappropriate colors in accordance with PBR regulations," Kotelnikoff said. "To address this we added a data source to our armor to identify specific materials and informs the dye system which color works on which material like fabric, leather and various other surfaces. This results in armor that is dyeable in various colors while remain grounded and authentic as the game we're building in Diablo IV."
