Do your clients love the look of a salon eyebrow wax but dread the pain of the procedure? Perhaps some are concerned about the chemicals in hot or cold waxes. Until recently, there were few real alternatives to a salon wax. As modern Western medicine now looks to herbal remedies and homeopathy from the Far East, many Western salons are turning to their Eastern neighbors for ancient techniques to add to their repertoire of beauty secrets. Though its origins are a bit mysterious (ranging from Persia to India), an Eastern technique called threading offers some women (and men) a more comfortable experience than waxing, with similar precision and lasting results. Threading can even achieve a higher level of precision than waxing for eyebrows due to the use of fine thread to create an arch instead of wider strips of flat fabric used in waxing.
In practicing this technique, the aesthetician takes a piece of thread, usually cotton, and twists it into a double strand. The double strand is then "woven" into a line of hair or rolled over the surface to collect the hair and used to remove it at the root. Unlike tweezing, threading removes a whole line of hair at a time. Unlike waxing, no chemicals are used, making for a more natural, organic spa treatment. Many clients experience only minimal redness after the procedure. Results last three to four weeks. Waxing can quickly remove hair and reshape the entire brow for up to several weeks at a time but can be painful and involves chemicals that can potentially react with the skin. On the other hand, tweezing a single hair at a time lacks the chemicals but takes longer and often only lasts for two weeks before regrowth appears lash lift and tint chatswood.
Threading can be done for a similar or cheaper price as a comparable wax, with quicker turnaround allowing for more clients, since there is no muss or fuss of heating and cleaning up wax. The lack of wax also removes concerns of the hygiene of reusing wax pots, sticks, and fabric strips. Learning to thread properly is essential to prevent pinching of a clients skin, uneven results, and ingrown hairs, but once mastered, threading can be used for hair removal in other areas besides eyebrows as well.
