The first seven PSO2 Meseta or so hours

The first seven PSO2 Meseta or so hours I tried logging were a as servers slid slamming Phantasy Star Online 2 over seconds. But after a few hours of downtime, they had been up and running through the remainder of the test, including an excess evening of up-time. It felt like an Early Access headstart than a beta. Nothing was restricted in terms of articles and no progress is going to be wiped before launching or Open Beta allowing us to just play through the first hours of the game.

If you are unfamiliar with PSO as a franchise -- you can get caught up by learning everything newcomers need to learn about Phantasy Star Online 2 -- however at a foundation level, it's much like Monster Hunter. The big difference being that it's less about special and concentrated hunts and more about completing quests and assignments. If you could create Dragon Hunter a conventional MMO using a heavy dose of sci-fi, then you'd have something pretty close to PSO2. There is a similarly-designed reception area where you can run into all kinds of different gamers, in addition to instanced missions, but -- like Destiny's Exploration mode -- you can also encounter other players out in the area even if they are not in your party.

So it is not a large openworld to explore. You queue up quests from the central hub which recruit NPCs if you would like send one where you can tweak your loadout, and prepare prior to going through a portal site to the planet. Like Monster Hunter, zones each have their own kinds of loot enemies, and environmental designs to allow them to feel distinct.

If you mixed Dragon Hunter with a MMO and a heavy dose of science fiction, you Phantasy Star Online 2 Meseta would have something pretty near Phantasy Star Online 2. Especially, PSO2 was an extremely simple game 90% of their time. If you are playing content that's marked as suitable for your degree on Normal difficulty you won't even have to heal through the entire assignment. Hard assignments targeted at 10 levels higher than my degree provedn't very difficult. The exception for this can be boss battles, which can be incredibly overwhelming if you're not paying attention and your group is ill-prepared.
