Valves are devices used to control, regulate, or direct flow in a system. According to the requirements of the material in the system, the function of the valves also changes. There is a wide variety of valves available for specific needs. They can be classified based on various properties, like Turn type, Control mechanism, Function, etc. Ocean Technical and Mechanical Services LLC is a well-known provider of high-quality valves that are tailored to your specific needs. We are not only the authorized distributors of these products but also known for providing best-in-class services and prompt delivery. Contact Ocean for Vibration Analysis

Ocean provides Knife Gate Valves, which are special-purpose valves designed for handling very thick media that may even include solids. They serve a similar purpose to that of Gate Valves, which is to isolate the media. It works by obstructing the flow using a metal gate-like structure that is lifted to open and lowered to close. Knife Gate Valves have gates made of one piece of metal, sharp and pointed to cut through the thick fluids and solids. The design helps in self-cleaning and is easy to maintain. They are typically used in handling wastewater, heavy oils, slurry, paper pulp, etc. As a company that strives for client satisfaction by utilizing best-in-class resources and processes, at Ocean, we have a team of devoted professionals who are here to assist you with everything you need at any time, whether it's answering questions about existing valves or recommending new ones.

    How does it work?

Gate Valves, in general, have three components, viz. Bonnet, Gate, and Stem. Each of them differs according to its specific application and manufacturing. In a Knife Gate Valve, the Gate is a single solid vertical structure with sharp ends to cut through, which is also the reason behind its name. Primarily designed for handling paper pulp, which often causes issues with normal gate valves due to their thick consistency. Ocean's supplied valves are used in a variety of industries for various applications. The Gate is controlled by the stem to raise and lower, and they are enclosed in the bonnet. Knife Gates can chop up the media passing through, and they are available in very large sizes as compared to other options.

Gate valves are designed for isolation. Hence, they should be used in situations requiring a completely open or completely closed state. If used in a partially closed state, it can cause vibration and consequent erosion of the parts.

    Why use them?

Our Knife gate valves are simple, efficient, and cost-effective designs compared to other types of valves for the specific application. Knife gate valves have their own set of benefits and limitations, some of which are mentioned below.

    Cheaper

Knife gate valves are cheaper than other types of valves, like ball valves and butterfly valves, in comparison because of their unsophisticated but effective design.

    Basic design

It has a simple design that makes installation and maintenance easy, as well as low cost.

    Bi-directional

They can be used bi-directionally. Hence, avoids the limitations of flow direction during installation.

    Self-cleaning

The gate is self-cleaning in nature, and there are no cavities for the accumulation of any media. This improves the overall maintainability.

    Viscous fluids

Can handle viscous fluids as well as sludge and slurry effectively with the help of the gates which can cut through solids. Blocking of valves by solid materials can be avoided.

    Large sizes

Easy to be constructed and installed in large sizes due to the simplistic design.
