Steps to Becoming a Chiropractor

    Although it may seem simple to become a chiropractor, the actual process is incredibly long and difficult for individuals to commit to. If you are interested in becoming a chiropractor in Australia, here are the steps required of you.

    1) Obtain a Bachelor of Science (Chiropractor)

    You will need to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Chiropractic care. Most universities will offer a science degree with the option to major in chiropractic care. Some universities to note include:

    • RMIT University (in Melbourne, Victoria)
    • Murdoch University (in Perth, Western Australia)
    • Macquarie University (in Sydney, New South Wales)

    2) Obtain a Masters in Clinical Chiropractic

    Your masters will be a continuation of your Bachelor’s degree, however will also help you apply your theoretical knowledge into everyday practice.

    3) Register with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency)

    AHPRA keeps all health practitioners - chiropractors included - in check. This means updating them on any legal changes, new research and Continued Professional Development (CPD) courses to take.
