Hello everyone! Today, we are going to discuss Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 Episode 3. This episode is titled “Should Have Been”. They should have called it "Angela should have been emotionally prepared." I knew this part of the Mugen train ride was coming up, but I just couldn't hold on.
We're going to break this down into four sections, discussing each of our Demon Slayers' dreams. Let's know more about this or similar articles.
Zenitsu's romantic dream
Zenitsu's dream is pretty normal and classic Zenitsu. He dreams that he and Nezuko are running in a forest. Zenitsu tells a seemingly human Nezuko that they have to cross a river. Nezuko is worried about crossing the river. Zenitsu then puts Nezuko on his back and jumps into the river. To say that he is in full delight is an understatement. It was a cute scene, but still ordinary.
Inosuke's heroic dream
Inosuke's dream was quite funny. He dreams that he is marching through a cave. Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Tanjiro are all his minions, and they all look like Pokémon characters. Inosuke marches through the cave to defeat an evil monster train. Is this some kind of foreshadowing about the Mugen train? No. It's a callback to episode 2 when Inosuke thought he might be the train in a footrace. Only Inosuke would look to race a train.
Rengoku's Family Dream
This is where I start to feel the pangs of emotion. Rengoku dreams of the day he tells his father that he is the new Flame Hashira. His father practically tells him that it doesn't matter, that nothing matters. What's heartbreaking is when Rengoku sees his little brother and tells him that his father doesn't care. He really appreciated that instead of lying to the young man, Rengoku told him the truth. But what really bothers me is that Rengoku tells his brother that the little one is lucky because he has an older brother who believes in him. He gives the boy hope.
As this beautiful scene occurs, someone sneaks into Rengoku's dreams. He is one of the children recruited by Enmu to invade the dreams of the demon hunters. I'm not going to say what happens (I'm spoiling enough of the show already). What I will say is that it further demonstrates why Rengoku shouldn't be bothered, even in his dreams. I swear he is so fucking cool!
Tanjiro's tragic dream
If Rengoku's dream moved me a bit, Tanjiro's dream pushed me over the edge. If you remember from the last episode, Tanjiro dreams that his family is still alive. Well, in this episode, that dream continues. But, he feels that something is wrong. Nezuko, who is still in her box on the train, shows up, sees that something is wrong and she headbutts Tanjiro, making him realize that he is in a dream.
He realizes that even though he wants to stay in this dream where there is peace and his family is still alive, he needs to wake up. He decides to say goodbye to his family. He walks away, not looking back. His little brother tries to chase him, but the baby falls in the snow. I was a pool of tears.
So, with the scent of a demon and the smell of Nezuko's blood in the air, Tanjiro wants to wake up. His father comes to him in the dream and tells him to take the sword from him. What happens next is almost as gangster as what Rengoku does in his dream. I'll leave it to you to watch the episode.
