Until a few years back, email wasn't that important but today it has become almost mandatory. I can not imagine my life without an email address. Its just like your home address that everyone has to know before contacting you. The only difference is that the home address is searched by physically going to the location and on the internet, in order to contact you, one must know your email address.
Whether you are applying for a scholarship program or want to purchase stuff from Amazon/Walmart, want to order food or want to book a movie ticket, you should have an email account. You just speak of anything that has to be done online, you should have an email address.
There are a lot of FREE as well PAID email service providers. Among the free email service providers, Gmail, Outlook/hotmail.com & Yahoo are the most common service providers. However, as long as paid email service providers are concern, there are plenty of them. You pay a monthly fee to get a paid email.
The paid email is requisite for the companies or the professional, though if you are a student, you don't necessarily have to get paid email.
