There are five types of anemometers as follows.

    1. Wind cup anemometer

It is the most common kind of anemometer. Rotating cup anemometer was first invented by the British Rubenson, when it was four cups, and later changed to three cups. Three inter-degree fixed in the rack of parabolic or hemispherical empty cups are down one side, the entire rack with the wind cup mounted on a freely rotatable shaft. Under the action of the wind wind cup rotates around the shaft, its speed is proportional to the wind speed. Rotational speed can be recorded with electrical contacts, speed generator or photoelectric counter, etc.

    2. Propeller type anemometer

It is a group of three or four-bladed propeller rotating around the horizontal axis of the anemometer. Propeller mounted on the front of a wind marker, so that its plane of rotation is always facing the wind anemometer direction, its speed is proportional to the wind speed.

    3. Anemometer

A wire heated by the current, the flow of air to make it heat, the use of heat dissipation rate and the square root of the wind speed into a linear relationship, and then linearized through the electronic circuit (to facilitate the scale and readings), you can make an anemometer. Anemometer is divided into two types of side heat and direct heat. The side heat type is generally manganese copper wire, its resistance temperature coefficient is close to zero, it has another surface temperature measurement element. The direct heat type is mostly platinum wire, in the measurement of wind speed at the same time can directly determine its own temperature. Anemometer in the small wind speed when the sensitivity is higher, suitable for small wind speed measurement. It has a time constant of only a few percent of seconds, and is an important tool for atmospheric turbulence and agricultural meteorological measurements.

    4. Digital anemometer

Digital anemometer is a large intelligent wind speed sensing alarm device developed for various large machinery and equipment, which adopts the microprocessor of advanced digital anemometer as the control core and advanced digital communication technology at the periphery. The system has high stability, strong anti-interference ability, high detection accuracy, wind cup made of special materials, high mechanical strength, strong wind resistance, the display chassis design is novel, sturdy and durable, easy to install and use. Digital anemometer is used to measure instantaneous wind speed and average wind speed, with automatic monitoring, real-time display, over-limit alarm control and other functions.

    5. Acoustic anemometer

The wind speed component in the direction of sound wave propagation will increase (or decrease) the speed of sound wave propagation, the use of this characteristic of the production of acoustic anemometer can be used to measure the wind speed component. The acoustic anemometer has at least two pairs of sensing elements, each pair includes a transmitter and a receiver. Make two microphones sound waves propagating in opposite directions, if one group of sound waves propagates with the wind speed component, and the other group happens to propagate against the wind, the time difference between the two receivers receiving the sound pulse will be proportional to the wind speed component. If two pairs of components are installed in the horizontal and lead direction at the same time, the horizontal wind speed, wind direction and lead wind speed can be calculated respectively. Because of the advantages of ultrasonic waves with anti-interference and good directionality, the acoustic anemometer emits sound waves mostly in the ultrasonic band.
