Shimla will certainly spoil you with choice, whether you're searching for contemporary, cafe-style cuisine or more traditional, local cooking. A wonderful combination of quaint old restaurants and trendy, Instagram-worthy establishments can be found here. Every kind of traveller will find something to their liking. Here are some of Shimla's finest cafés, particularly for those on a budget:

    Bake and wake up

Wake & Bake is an excellent choice if you want to unwind while enjoying some delicious cuisine. On Mall Road, opposite from the police station, its cheerful yellow windows are easy to identify. The Shimla café is known for its breakfast choices such as waffles, crepes, and a large range of eggs, and it has a really charming, relaxing atmosphere. There is a good variety of books and board games available. Also, don't leave without tasting their organic coffee, which is made in-house. Although service may be sluggish, the cuisine is well worth the wait. Best café in Shimla is the one!

    Cost: $800 for two people

Italian, Continental, and Middle Eastern cuisines are available.

Hummus and pita plate, Lemongrass chicken, Hazelnut coffee, and Banana and Nutella Waffles are some of the standout items.

Any vacation, in my opinion, is incomplete if you do not sample the local cuisine. Himachali Rasoi in Shimla offers excellent Himachali cuisine (perhaps the only one in Shimla) with the greatest friendliness. Foodies will be in for a treat at this Shimla café, which serves an endless thali that you may eat while sitting peacefully on the floor mattresses. After you've finished your dinner, spare some space for dessert. Patande, a traditional Himachali crepe served with ghee and jaggery, is to die for! This is one of the best café in Shimla.

For two people, the cost is $500.

    Himachali cuisine

Kangri Dham thali, sidu (steamed filled bun), rehru (warm spicy lassi), patande are some of the standout foods. 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; 54, Middle Bazar, Near Shiv Temple, Baljees Stairs Hideout is one of Shimla's most popular cafés, not just for its cuisine but also for its laid-back and welcoming atmosphere. It's a tiny café with a view of Mall Road where I've spent many nights reading and drinking their excellent cold coffee while listening to the oddly soothing hum of Mall Road. Hide Out is also a fantastic location to start your day, thanks to its friendly staff and excellent breakfast choices such as French toast, fluffy omelettes, and pancakes.
