How to get a toned chest

The bench press exercise is a good exercise and, if done well, minimal pectoral intervention is achieved in the exercise. The problem is that the triceps and front delts do most of the work. This is an individual thing and is based on your Visit this page strengths and weaknesses, but as a general rule, your chest won't do the vast majority of the work when you bench press.

Trying to work your breasts more during the bench press by separating your elbows more and lowering the bar more in the "higher" part of your chest (this is the way that bodybuilding magazines teach you how to do it in their photographs) is a visible shoulder injury, so better not consider this option.

Although the pectoral is not the muscle we work the most when it comes to bench pressing, it is still a tremendous and excellent exercise when it comes to achieving body mass for the upper body. If you have shoulder problems, you better not do this exercise, but otherwise, we recommend this exercise for training the upper body.

Just as effective, if not more so, is the dumbbell bench press. Dumbbells allow for a more natural and safer movement.
These exercises can be performed on a flat bench or an incline bench .
The dumbbells will also offer you the option of pressing with your palms pointing down towards your feet, like when you press with a barbell or with your palms facing each other, and towards your body. This second variety puts less pressure on your shoulders, recommended for those with shoulder problems. In the case of not having any shoulder problem, we recommend using both exercises.

Finally, all types of push-ups are highly recommended when working on the chest.
