Electrofusion pipe fittings VS hot melt pipe fittings

Electrofusion pipe fittings are plastic (polyethylene) pipe fittings that can be melted to reach the connection by the temperature generated by the current. Capacity (that is, the ampere number) is the main parameter. In some low-voltage circuits, the voltage requirements are not high, and only the ampere number can be marked.

In the sales and application of polyethylene piping systems, about 15% to 20% of the sales are pipe fittings. The pipe fittings of the polyethylene piping system are mainly divided into two types: hot melt pipe fittings and electrofusion pipe fittings. They are used in engineering due to price reasons. The amount of medium hot melt pipe fittings is more than that of electrofusion pipe fittings, but electrofusion pipe fittings have an important and irreplaceable role in engineering and maintenance. Especially in construction, electrofusion pipe fittings are less affected by the external environment and human factors, so The reliability is better, and it is more popular with users. Especially in the gas pipe engineering, more and more electrofusion pipe fittings are being used. At the same time, due to the complicated production technology, high cost, and high sales price of fused pipe fittings, the profit margin of fused pipe fittings production plants is also high, which has become a hot spot for investment.

The connection method is also different. For the first time, the electrofusion pipe fitting adopts the socket connection method, which is mainly used for the connection of the steel mesh skeleton plastic composite pipe, and it is also the only connection pipe fitting for this kind of pipeline. Its inside is the temperature generated after the resistance is energized to melt the polyethylene raw material at the connection part, and after it is cooled, it can be integrated. This kind of pipeline is not tight and can be used for the connection of steel mesh skeleton plastic composite pipes, and can be used for the connection of PE pipes, especially in the maintenance of pipelines, which cannot be replaced by hot melt pipe fittings.

Secondly, there are two ways to connect hot-melt pipe fittings, one is socket connection and the other is hot-melt butt connection. Its production process is one-time injection molding, the main raw material is high-density polyethylene, and hot-melt pipe fittings can only be used for the connection of PE pipes, and cannot be used for the connection of steel mesh skeleton plastic composite pipes. At the same time, because the PE pipe adopts the direct butt welding method of the pipe, the hot-melt pipe fittings do not have a sleeve (or called direct).

Thirdly, in terms of construction convenience and safety, electrofusion pipe fittings are higher than hot melt pipe fittings. Of course, the price of fused pipe fittings is also higher than that of hot melt pipe fittings.

Finally, the selection of these two types of fittings is actually based on the pipeline. After all, hot melt fittings can only be used for the connection of PE pipes, and the scope of application is lower than that of electrofusion fittings.
