Whether it is manual or industrial robots, abrasive belts are required for polishing. Mastering a little knowledge of abrasive belts will help us use abrasive belts better and increase the service life of abrasive belts.
To increase the service life of abrasive belts, the following measures can be taken:
1) Reduce the initial wear of the abrasive belt. The initial wear of the abrasive belt is caused by the shedding or crushing of abrasive particles. In order to reduce the initial wear, the new abrasive belt is pre-ground with a reduced contact pressure for a certain period of time, and then the normal work is carried out. This method can also be called dressing, but it is not the same as The dressing of the grinding wheel is different.
2) Use grinding aids or grinding fluids to reduce the abrasion wear rate in the stable wear stage.
The main purpose of using grinding aids or grinding fluids is to reduce the root cause of wear-the friction between the abrasive particles and the workpiece, and reduce the heat of grinding, so as to achieve the effect of reducing the wear rate.
3) Increase the perimeter of the abrasive belt to reduce the action rate of the abrasive belt. The decrease of the belt action rate can increase the life of the belt. When the machine tool equipment conditions permit, appropriately increase the circumference of the abrasive belt, so that the abrasive belt can be better cooled and increase the total number of abrasive particles involved in the grinding.
4) Appropriately increase the speed of the abrasive belt. Properly increasing the speed of the abrasive belt can not only reduce the surface roughness, but also reduce the crushing and wear of the abrasive particles and extend the life.
5) Gradually increase the grinding pressure. After the abrasive belt enters the normal cutting stage, gradually increasing the grinding pressure of the abrasive belt can strengthen the grinding process, increase the cutting edge ratio of the abrasive particles and suppress, so that the abrasive particles are broken, and a new cutting edge is generated to restore the cutting ability, that is, the self-sharpening effect. To achieve the purpose of prolonging the service life of the abrasive belt.
6) Improve the cutting performance of the abrasive belt itself. The abrasive grains with good toughness are resistant to crushing, which can prolong the service life. The cutting performance of the classic sand planting belt is better than that of gravity planting sand. In planting sand, reducing the thickness of the binder and the density of planting sand can increase the chip holding space of the abrasive belt, increase the strength of the bonding agent, and make the bonding more reliable. These measures can improve the grinding performance of the abrasive belt to a certain extent and prolong the service life of the abrasive belt.
The above measures are mainly aimed at reducing the main form of abrasive belt blunt (abrasion and crushing) wear, and for the two forms of sticking and detachment, the hardness of the abrasive belt, the density of planting sand, etc. The control and selection of abrasive belt structure parameters can be used to solve the problem. At the same time, a special coating can be applied to the surface of the abrasive belt, that is, the above-mentioned super-coating, to solve the problem of sticking and wear of the abrasive belt or using a grinding fluid.
