BOPP Film, BOPET Film, and BOPA Film are very common materials for flexible packing film. But they have different properties and used for different applications.
BOPP films
BOPP films (Biaxially Oriented PolyPropylene Films) are produced by stretching polypropylene film in both machine direction and transverse direction. BOPP film is used in vast range of applications comprising packaging, labeling and lamination. BOPP Films are preferred substrate for food packaging globally because of its inherent moisture barrier properties, seal ability, high clarity and graphic reproduction and shelf appeal, best possibilities of the pack being a mono layer/homogeneous structure.
PET Siliconized Release Liner
PET Film is a polyester film made from orientated polyethylene terephthalate (PET). BOPET is used because of its high tensile strength, chemical and dimensional stability, transparency, reflectivity, gas and aroma barrier properties and electrical insulation
Biaxially oriented nylon film (BOPA), has excellent characteristics, can be used for a variety of high-grade packaging. BOPA has a very high tensile strength, anti-puncture strength, excellent flexibility, resistance.
In the three flexible packing film, BOPA’s printing performance is the best. Because BOPA film has a polar structure. No surface treatment is required before printing.
The BOPP printing performance is the worst. Because BOPP film is a non-polar polymer. Their chemical stability is high. The surface tension is small. It is not easy to be infiltrated by most inks and solvents.
The printing performance is mainly determined by the surface tension:
