Sick of having a long list of failed New Year's resolutions and unreached goals?

You are not alone. Setting New Year's resolutions can be a challenge and the same goes for achieving them. Typically, this is because resolutions are broad and easily forgotten.

This year it might be worth trying a different approach and start small with some simple health tips and changes.

Below are some easy changes you can make to have a healthier and happier start to the new year.

Ensure You Are Getting Enough Sleep

One of the easiest things we can do to improve our health and wellbeing is to get enough sleep. On average, we need eight hours of sleep a night to regenerate our bodies and stabilise energy levels.

    Keep Hydrated at All Times

While you might not need to drink your bodyweight in water, our bodies are made up of more than 50% of H₂O, so keeping well-hydrated is vital for our health and most body functions. Ensuring you drink enough water is a great way to improve your general health.

    Book Your Annual Health Check

It's not just an apple a day that will keep the doctor away. Seeing your doctor for regular health check-ups may help recognise any early signs of health issues, which may increase your chances for effective treatment. If you plan on starting a new job in the New Year, you may also need a pre-employment medical.

Additionally, a check-up can be a good opportunity for your doctor to examine your health to see what improvements may need to be made. It is also advised to consult with your doctor before starting an exercise regime or weight-loss journey.

The New Year can be a great opportunity to start fresh, implement small changes and aim to lead a happier and healthier life
