When we choose PPR pipes and fittings, we can’t just look at the thickness of the pipe wall. The metal interlayer or special interlayer is invisible to the naked eye. If there is a problem, it will be very troublesome.
The normal welding temperature of PPR pipes is in the range of 260-290°C. The welding quality will be better guaranteed when welding within this temperature range. If the welding parameters are normal, the product enters the welding mould easily. A fusion tumour close to the liquid state indicates that the product is not produced from genuine PP-R raw material. If the fusion tumour can cool and change rapidly, it can also indicate that the product is not produced from genuine PP-R raw material, because one of the characteristics of PPR is that it is well insulated and it will naturally cool more slowly.
A good PPR pipe is 100% pure PPR material (no additives). The surface is smooth and soft to the touch. Pseudo PPR pipes are smooth to the touch. Generally speaking, rough particles are likely to be mixed with impurities.
Good PPR pipe, good resilience, easy to break the natural is not a good PPR pipe. But the temperature is below 10 degrees, the best PPR pipe can also be broken. But hardness is not the same as good elasticity. Some manufacturers add too much calcium carbonate and other impurities in order to improve the hardness. It can't be decomposed, and it is easy to crack over time.
PPR pipes have considerable hardness and can be easily pinched.
The main material of PPR pipes is polypropylene. Good pipes do not have an odour. Bad pipes have an odour and are probably adulterated with polyethene, not polypropylene PPR pipes.
Good PPR pipe is soft and even in colour, without any colour. PPR pipe is mainly available in white, grey, purple, green, yellow and blue. Consumers tend to think that white is the best PPR pipe. In fact, colour is not a criterion for judging whether PPR pipes are good or bad. In fact, there is no relationship between the colour of PPR pipes and the quality of PPR pipes. Plastic granules are mainly white and transparent. Regardless of the colour of the pipe, PPR pipes should, according to national regulations, have good light-closing properties. In this respect, grey or other opaque properties would be better. But this advantage exists only for open pipe installations and in pipe wells. And as all domestic pipes are buried, there is no claim that grey is completely superior to other colours.
Alternatively, you can use vernier callipers to measure whether the wall thickness of the pipe is up to standard and uniform. Generally, good pipes are produced in strict accordance with national standards, but this method requires a certain understanding of the national standards for PPR pipes.
PPR pipe landing sounds dull, while the pseudo-PPR pipe landing sounds crisp.
PPR pipes mixed with recycled plastic and other impurities will emit black smoke and a pungent smell. A good material burns without black smoke and is odourless. After burning, the molten liquid remains clean.
