The following qualifying requirements must be met by students applying under the SDS category:
Admission to a full-time programme at an institution of higher learning that is publicly financed, such as a university, college, institute, or CEGEP
a recent IELTS test with a minimum band score of 6 in each of the four skill categories—listening, reading, writing, and speaking—is required.
purchase of a special $10,000 Canadian Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) from Scotiabank to cover living costs for the first year of one's stay in Canada
evidence that the tuition for one (1) year has been paid
upfront medical exam at least a week before application submission.
