    Following are the secrets shared by momies for babies, blog by AloeMaa

    1. Breastfeed as long as possible

    2. Babywearing is a must!

    3. Get help from family members and friends to save time and energy so you can enjoy your baby and sleep when the baby sleeps.

    4. Sleep when the baby sleeps.

    5. Ask for help, delegate care to partners or parents, "let go" of parenting decisions and follow your gut instincts – find what works for you and your baby.

    Now that we're on the other side of those early infant days I know my own secrets:

    1) It's ok if not everyone agrees with my parenting choices;

    2) There's no such thing as "spoiling" a child;

    3) Getting good sleep is important for everyone in our family;

    4) It's ok to ask for help and it feels amazing to receive the support from those around us.

    Imagine if a daughter went through a phase where she didn't want a mother to put her down at all – every time she’d try, the baby would wake up screaming so instead of going crazy trying to keep her happy and holding her constantly, we let go of a bit and handed off caregiving duties. It was hard but freed up so much valuable sleep time that now she has no idea why she ever made me think it would be otherwise!

    I think it's important to be aware of your child's needs and not feel guilty about fulfilling them. I also think things like "putting your baby down" isn't just one task, but rather an entire set of tasks that include feeding, burping, changing, diaper duty (if applicable), swaddling (or just rolling over if they don't need to be wrapped up) plus the act of getting them down.

    This is all exhausting stuff, and you can easily make matters worse when you combine it with sleep deprivation.

    Do what works for you! There are dozens (hundreds?) of sleep training methods out there but in my opinion each parent should do what suits their child best; these kids grow up so fast to baby:

    1. Get as much outside help as possible.

    2. Breastfeed as long as possible.

    3. If you bottle feed, make your own milk (or donate milk to someone who needs it).

    4. Use cloth or at least eco-friendly diapers; or, forgo them altogether.

    5. Make your own baby food (find a recipe for beets and sweet potatoes and mix them together).

    6. Alternate co-sleeping and room sharing (put her to sleep in one location and then put yourself next to her when you're tired; repeat until she's asleep).

    7. Try not to cry with your child. The mother-daughter bond is so important during these years, don't let the lack of sleep damage it! You'll need that love as she gets older.

    8. And finally: if at all possible DON'T WORK outside the home! We need you here with us - want more?  Okay here's a list of things you can do to help the environment:

    1. Read this article about cloth diapers . It may seem old-fashioned, but there are so many benefits! If you're one of those green moms who also breastfeeds, just think how simple it would be if your baby didn't have to eat solids yet!

    2. Start composting with your child or at least begin recycling. You'll feel empowered knowing that even from an early age she has been helping out the Earth! The best part? She won't know what she's doing and won't expect praise for good behavior--so give her lots of hugs!

    3. Make sure to utilize greener transportation options like bike riding or scooters to get your child around. If you want to spend a little money to help the green cause, buy her a carseat adapted for biking.

    4. Plant some vegetables and fruit trees in your backyard! It'll be something to do together as she gets older and it's great bonding time. You can even try growing some special crops just for her if you want! As the old saying goes: "A broccoli a day keeps the doctors away!"

    5. Let her play with toys made from sustainable materials like wood or grass (just make sure to wash them first before letting your baby chew on them)! If you're having problems finding any, check out your local thrift store or yard sale; chances are you'll find plenty of used but still functional ones there.

    6. If she's willing, get her involved in your daily routine like basic chores and cleaning to help ease the burden of running a household!
