Tamarindo Beach Costa Rica has a happening nightlife scene, great food, and a ton of tours and activities to discover, so it’s no wonder it is a great place for single people to meet. For many people, it can be intimidating to come to a new city or a new country as a single person but if you’re looking for other singles to hang out with then Tamarindo Beach Costa Rica is the place to be.

    At the Beach

As one of the most touristic beach towns along the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, Tamarindo Beach can get very busy, especially during the high season from December to May. During the busy season, the beach gets pretty packed, making it an easy place to strike up conversations, especially with excited tourists. There are vendors along Tamarindo Beach serving upPiña Coladas directly in a fresh coconut, which may just give you the courage you need to walk up to a stranger and say Hola! Several bars line the beach for bar hopping, which you can easily get to right from the sand – no shirt, no shoes, no problem!

    Take Lessons

Taking a lesson is a great way for single people to meet because you will definitely share some of the same interests! Taking a beginner surf lesson at Witch’s Rock or Iguana Surf will help you meet another person who isn’t afraid to try something new, not-to-mention athletic and adventurous. A yoga class is another good meeting place for singles who care about their health and well-being. There is a yoga studio right downtown at Plaza Tamarindo. You can also join a morning yoga lesson on the beach in front of El Be! Club every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8 am.

    Catamaran Cruise

With several catamaran sunset cruises available from the Tamarindo Beach area, the most popular choice for singles to mingle is probably the Marlin del Rey. This catamaran tour offers music, dancing, lunch, and an open bar! You can even go snorkeling or head out on a kayak when you reach the secluded bay and beach destination. The tour ends with a glorious sunset over the ocean from aboard the vessel, making the vibes ripe for romance.

    Beach and Pool Crawl

Every Sunday afternoon is the perfect chance to hang out with other singles at the Beach and Pool Crawl. The group meets up at El Be! Club at noon before heading out in an old school bus. After a few drinks and mingling with your fellow crawlers, the bus takes a drive along the coast. With tunes blasting you will get to know your fellow crawlers as the bus takes you to explore three secret spots. There are pool parties with a DJ, beach volleyball, and margaritas with live entertainment. The last stop takes you to a beach bonfire to enjoy the sunset with all of your new friends. The party doesn’t stop here! The bus ride back to Tamarindo often turns into a dance party and is quite possibly the highlight of the tour.

    Tamarindo Night Market

There are two weekly markets, or ferias, in Tamarindo. Both have vendors selling everything from tropical fruit to handmade trinkets. The Saturday Market is held from 8 am to 2 pm near the skate park, but the best place for singles to hang out is the Tamarindo Night Market. This funky market features live music, hot food, cocktails, kombucha, and fun live performances that make for an interesting and highly social atmosphere. The market runs from 6 to 9 pm every Thursday at Plaza Palmas by the Banco Nacional. It is a great place to grab some food and drinks you can’t find anywhere else before you head out on the town.

    The Nightlife

The most popular time for folks to get out and mingle in Tamarindo Beach Costa Rica is during sunset. El Vaquero is a popular beach bar to watch this daily show by mother nature. The bar often has live music from 4 to 7 pm and happy hour food and drink specials. This is also where you can see the beach performers hold their nightly fire show, which usually takes place after sunset around 7 pm.

Sharky’s Sports Bar is a popular place for tourists to gather to watch the game, sing karaoke, or even play beer pong. This lively sports bar offers nightly drink specials so you can catch a deal every night of the week – we recommend Margarita Mondays!

If you want to have the classic nightclub experience in Tamarindo, you will need to hit up Pacifico. Wednesday is ladies’ night, Thursday is reggae night, and on Saturday night it is the place to be! Things don’t usually start happening until about 11 pm as it is usually the place where everyone ends up, especially on the weekends. There are two dance areas, plenty of seating, and lots of bar space, making for a very social setting.

On Friday nights, Crazy Monkey is where it's at! This open-air club has a lot going on - if you can make it up the long staircase! If you are not sure what you are in the mood for, then Crazy Monkey is your best option. From salsa dancing to pool parties to aerial dancing, the Crazy Monkey does it all. DJs spin late into the night here, mixing up a large variety of party tunes. Sometimes there are two-for-one cocktails, giving you a good excuse to buy a drink for a stranger and giving you the chance to chat with another single person. There is a small cover charge at the Crazy Monkey but it is definitely worth it!

One of the most important things you can do to help you meet singles is to get a Tamarindo vacation rental, or if you plan to stay longer, a long-term rental in Tamarindo to ensure you have a home base in this vibrant beach town. As its popularity grows, it can be tough to find a good long-term rental in Tamarindo, which is why it is best to put your trust in the hands of an expert to find you the home or Tamarindo vacation rental of your dreams.
