Die-hard supporters from different political parties have been busy these past few months from the start of the campaign season. They have been defending their presidential bets against bashers and critics.
If you have been hooked on the 2022 elections, social media has played a crucial role – both positively and negatively.
Leni Robredo’s supporters, also known as the kakampinks or pinklawans, have been labeled toxic for their arrogance and vile behavior. In fact, the hate they are spewing has sparked controversies among presidential rivals.
Respect no longer exists since they insist they are right in choosing Robredo over other candidates. They think they are superior, intelligent, and righteous than the other supporters from the opposing team.
Thus, their hateful actions have made a negative impact on Robredo’s presidential bid. Many have decided to step back from endorsing Leni because of how they badly treat other clusters of supporters. Instead of drawing more advocates to their candidate, they push people away from her.
Consequences of Negative Campaigning
Some supporters might have to resort to negative campaigning to push the candidacy of their presidential bet. However, it is not always effective in convincing the voters to gain more support.
Filipinos are tired of all pessimism – including negative campaigning. Spreading slanderous words against other candidates have bounced back on their camp.
As a result, most Filipino voters are not choosing a candidate who tolerates division and contempt among the people. Those who want to stay away from hate and disorder are silently not voting for Leni Robredo.
