MADRID Nike Air Max 97 Black UK , Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- FC Barcelona enjoyed an easy 4-0 win at home to Deportivo la Coruna on Sunday night to stretch their lead at the top of the Liga Santander to six points over second place Atletico Madrid, eight over Valencia and 11 over Real Madrid Nike Air Max 97 White UK , who didn't play this weekend as they were in the World Club Championship in Abu Dhabi.

Barca led 2-0 at halftime thanks to goals from Luis Suarez and Paullinho, before Suarez made it 3-0 soon after the break Nike Air Max 97 Silver UK , Messi had a penalty saved and Paulinho netted his second after a Suarez shot hit the post and the final score would have been bigger if Messi hadn't hit the woodwork on three separate occasions.

The only setback for Barca was a muscle injury to Paco Alcacer means he will miss next weekend's Clasico against Real Madrid.

Fernando Torres scored the only goal of the game as Atletico Madrid moved to second place in the Liga Santander on Saturday night following a 1-0 win at home to Deportivo Alaves.

Torres' goal came 15 minutes from the end as Atletico struggled to break down a rival who remain in the relegation zone, but who have improved drastically in 3 matches under new coach Abelardo Fernandez.

Atletico's win took them above Valencia who fell to their second consecutive away defeat as they were beaten 2-1 away to Eibar in a rainy Ipurua Stadium.

Eibar worked tremendously hard and looked to pressure Valencia who had three key players out injured Nike Air Max 97 Blue UK , high up the pitch. That pressure set up Takshi Inui for the opening goal four minutes after halftime.

Santi Mina's sixth goal of the season nine minutes later leveled the scores, but although Goncalo Guedes returned from injury as a substitute for Valencia Nike Air Max 97 Mens UK , Eibar had the best chances in the closing minutes and Joan Jordan scored the winning goal three minutes from the end with a powerful header following Ivi Alejo's fine cross.

Girona's incredible season continued as they defeated Getafe 1-0 to move into contention for a place in Europe thanks to Cristian Stuani's fifth minute goal.

The Catalans' win momentarily lifted them into sixth place in the table, but that only lasted for four hours before Villarreal reclaimed the final European place with a 1-0 win away to Celta Vigo.

Both sides were missing key players Nike Air Max 97 UK , but Celta suffered without Spain international Iago Aspas and Pablo Fornals' first ever goal for Villarreal was enough to give them all three points.

Espanyol looked to be cruising to an away victory as they led 2-0 away to struggling Las Palmas with just 13 minutes remaining only to allow the home side to draw level through Loric Remi and Calleri and Las Palmas would have won had it not been for Pau Lopez's stunning 96th minute save to deny a Jonathan Viera penalty.

The Basque derby in San Mames between Athletic Club Bilbao and Real Sociedad was less thrilling and ended 0-0 in a match where tension and tackles held the edge over football and the best news from the 0-0 draw between Sevilla and Levante was Eduardo Berizzo's return to the Sevilla dugout just 17 days after a cancer operation.

MELBOURNE, July 26 (Xinhua) -- An early brace from Italian Serie A champions Juventus has helped seal a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in their International Champions Cup (ICC) clash at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Tuesday night.

Early goals from man of the match Paulo Dybala and Medhi Benatia were enough for Juventus to secure the three points, as they held off a frantic late surge from the north Londoners in a tense final 10 minutes of play.

The Argentinian young gun Dybala opened the account for Juventus just six minutes into the match, after an understrength Spurs back four coughed up the ball. A quick counter attack from Roberto Pereya allowed Dybala to get open on the flank, and he fired a rocket past Spurs goalkeeper Michel Vorm.

It didn't take long for the reigning Serie A champion to double its lead; another poor defensive effort from Tottenham on the 15th minute mark gifted Juventus a free ball into the box; an unmarked Benatia got on the end of a beautiful Miralem Pjanic curler to make it 2-0.

Spurs managed to awaken the crowd halfway through the second half; new signing Victor Wanyama pounced on a complacent Hernanes in the middle of the pitch and flicked a clever ball through to Erik Lamela who cut the lead back to one with just under half an hour to play.

Minutes later the match was almost turned on its head when a quick restart from a free kick gave Spurs a golden opportunity, but the first-time shot from the dangerous Lamela was parried neatly by Juventus keeper Neto.

In added time, Spurs had one last opportunity to clinch a point when Lamela flicked a neat through ball through to Shayon Harrison, however Neto was too good -- his late-match heroics invariably sealing the three points for the Italian champs.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri said his side established a good lead early in the match, but following a number of substitutions in the second half, Juventus allowed the English side to claw its way back into the match.

Overall he said it was a "good experience" for his young players to face pressure on the world stage.

"It was a good test, for the first hour we played well but the last 30 minutes was a bit difficult," Allegri told the press following the victory.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino said a couple of early mistakes might have cost his team the win, but the way his young side fought back into the match was a positive to take out of the match.

"There were positive signs in the way that the team reacted after such a poor start," Pochettino said.

"It was tough from the beginning, after 15 minutes being 2-0 down was difficult. We had a lot of young players playing.

"(But) it was a great experience for us. Lots of things to learn and lots of positives.
