The functions of enhanced inventory receiving are as follows:-

• Item receipts do not increase accounts payable
• Bills do not affect inventory
• Original receipts are not replaced by the bills
• It treats item receipt and item bill as two different or separate transaction
• QuickBooks began to use as a clearing account
• Some business organizations need more than one bills against the same item. EIR solves the purpose
• Item receipt has the date when it came to the inventory and bill date is the date when the item is purchased by the vender.

Moreover, this feature is quite optional and can be used according to the preferences of business organizations. In case you want to use it, you need to enable it by using a simple procedure.

1. Go to Item and Inventory from edit menu
2. Enable ‘Enhanced Inventory Receiving’ option under Company preferences tab
3. After reviewing all the warning messages, click OK.
