Nationals Plan To Push Strasburg Later In Spring - RealGM Wiretap

The Nationals will keep Stephen Strasburg under watch like any other ace early in a longer-than-usual Spring Training.

"He's on a 45-pitch limit [Saturday] adidas nmd dámské ," Davey Johnson said. "Just depending on his pitch efficiency, he could go two or even go three [innings]."

Because of the schedule, Strasburg could make as many as seven Grapefruit League starts. With that in mind, Johnson will probably have his right-hander on a slower program to begin the year.

"You try to have a progression, just a little more each time," Johnson said. "You kind of push him -- I'd say when he's got two more starts, you kind of taper him down. But being that we're starting early, all I want is for him to be ready to throw 100 pitches Opening Day."

Fixtures Of The Weekend Arsenal Everton Seattle Portland - RealGM Wiretap

Arsenal at Everton (Sun. 8:30 AM EST): The final spot in the Champions League is on the line with Arsenal traveling to Goodison Park on Sunday in the most critical match of the weekend in the Premier League. Everton trails Arsenal by four points with one goal in hand, so a win by either club could essentially clinch fourth place.

Arsenal defeated Everton 4-1 in the FA Cup in early March, but Everton has won five in a row in the EPL by taking care of West Ham, Cardiff, Swansea adidas neo dámské , Newcastle United and Fulham. Romelu Lukaku is playing as well as anyone not named Luis Suarez over the past month with goals in four of his past six overall matches.

Arsenal's draw against Manchester City was considered a step forward following the 6-0 loss to Chelsea and the 2-2 draw against Swansea, which shows how far they've fallen since Aaron Ramsey's injury on Boxing Day. Ramsey could return to the match and tilt the match in Arsenal's favor.

Real Madrid at Real Sociedad (Sat. 2:00 PM EST): The 3-0 result for Real Madrid against Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the Champions League will allow Carlo Ancelotti to prioritize this match a little more than he would have if there was more work left to do in the return match at Signal Iduna Park. Real Sociedad is in fifth place in La Liga and will look to improve upon their 1-5 result at Real Madrid back in November. Real Madrid will need all three points in San Sebastian to remain within striking distance of Atlético Madrid and Barça.

Seattle Sounders at Portland Timbers (Sat. 3:00 PM EST): The best rivalry in the MLS resumes on Saturday though the Timbers come into the match winless this season with two losses and two ties. These clubs last played in the Western Conference semifinals last November, which was won by the Timbers. But Portland will likely be without Darlington Nagbe due to a hamstring injury, while Donovan Ricketts won't be in goal due to suspension.

Clint Dempsey looked to be in good form in the USMNT friendly on Wednesday against Mexico and will be ready to go for this one.

Yankees Getting Positive Reports On Tanaka - RealGM Wiretap

Offseason reports on Masahiro Tanaka have been positive, according to New York Yankees pitching coach Larry Rothschild.

"So far he's felt good," Rothschild said. "He's had a good winter."

Tanaka is throwing and doing his normal conditioning program in Japan. The right-hander missed 2½ months while rehabilitating a partially torn UCL in his throwing elbow and returned for two late-September starts.

"The last start he didn't pitch well, but he didn't feel bad," Rothschild said. "We've got to manage a few guys in spring training and try and get them through healthy, and he's one of them."

The Yankees signed Tanaka to a seven-year, $155 million deal in January 2014.

Francisco Rodriguez Joins Rare Club With 400th Save - RealGM Wiretap

Francisco Rodriguez joined an elite group Tuesday night when he recorded the 400th save of his Major League career, becoming only the sixth pitcher to accomplish such a feat.

Rodriguez broke into the big leagues with the Los Angeles Angels in 2002.

"When I came here to the States to the big leagues, I was just a kid with a lot of dreams adidas yeezy boost 350 cena , but [it] never, not even crossed my mind," Rodriguez said of reaching the milestone. "One thing I want to make clear: I don't play for numbers. I play this game because I love it. I've got it in my veins, and that's the only thing that, honestly, I know how to do well. It had nothing to do with records or anything like that."

Rodriguez has 14 saves for the Detroit Tigers this season.

He joined Mariano Rivera (652), Trevor Hoffman (601), Lee Smith (478), Billy Wagner (422) and John Franco (424) as the only pitchers with 400 saves.
