    Why am I getting the error 12009 when trying to update the QuickBooks payroll?

     

    QuickBooks Error 12009 arises when you are trying to update the QuickBooks software or are updating the payroll services. This also could happen if internet explorer is not set as the default browser on the system. Follow the fix here step-wise to troubleshoot the QuickBooks error 12009 code:

    1. Open the Internet Explorer and navigate to the top right corner of the screen.

    2. Click on the tool icon, and select Internet Options from the available option.

    3. Click on the Programs tab among other tabs and navigate to the default Web Browser option.

    4. Click the Make Default tab option followed by the OK button.

    5. Open the browser again and check in QuickBooks if the error has disappeared.

     

    Alternatively, you can try to check the internet connectivity on the device.
