QuickBooks Error 1904 is a common error found while installing the QuickBooks software. It often occurs because of the system process and if each file and folder are not saved immediately. QuickBooks error 1904 can even occur when QuickBooks Desktop installation takes place. It usually happens when the operating system is updated from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Apart from this, it can even occur when the system isn’t restarted once the QuickBooks is updated. An error message, “Failed to register file path/ name/ extension,” shows up on your desktop when you receive it.

1. Run the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool:
Download and run the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool from the official Intuit website.
This tool is designed to automatically identify and fix issues with the Microsoft components QuickBooks uses for installation.
2. Install QuickBooks with a New Windows User:
Create a new Windows user with administrative rights.
Log in with the new user account and try installing QuickBooks.
3. Update Windows:
Ensure that your Windows operating system is updated to the latest version.
Install any available updates for Microsoft components such as Microsoft .NET Framework, MSXML, and C++.
4. Run as Administrator:
Right-click on the QuickBooks Desktop shortcut and choose "Run as Administrator."
This ensures that the installation process has the necessary permissions.
5. Disable Antivirus and Firewall:
Temporarily disable your antivirus and firewall before installing QuickBooks.
Re-enable them after the installation is complete.
