How can I check if a website is a scam?

An old acquaintance of mine, whom I haven’t been in touch with for a long time, shared a plea for help on social media, saying her nephew is sick and asking for donations for his treatment. She sent a link where donations can be sent. However, something about it seems suspicious. She had been quiet for a long time, and then suddenly posted, “Help me.” But, maybe she was silent because she’s too busy to talk right now. How can I check this donation link to see if it’s legitimate or some kind of scam?

I’m about 90% sure this is a scam. If someone truly needed help, they would reach out personally and ask for it directly, probably over a call or in person. Sending links in private messages like this is a classic red flag. You can double-check the link using the scam website checker here: https://pr-cy.io/trust/ . Even so, I think you’ll quickly realize for yourself that this is not legitimate and that I was right to be cautious.
