Wanted to share an interesting case we recently did where custom surgical cutting guides made a huge difference. We had a fibula free flap reconstruction, and as you know, accuracy with bone cuts is critical for both function and aesthetics. Instead of relying completely on intra-op judgment, we collaborated with CureWith3D to design patient-specific orthopedic surgical guides.
These guides allowed us to plan the osteotomies beforehand and execute them with precision in the OR. The fit was near-perfect, which saved a lot of intra-op time and minimized adjustments. What I liked most was the predictability—it really reduced the stress of “eyeballing” angles under pressure.
CureWith3D also supports us with implant placement surgical guides, which streamline fixation and improve overall outcomes. I’ve seen colleagues in maxillofacial and dental surgery benefit from their 3D printed dental guides as well.
It’s great to see tech finally catching up with our surgical needs. The accuracy, time-saving, and patient-specific customization are something I’d recommend exploring if you haven’t already. Curious if others here have tried similar workflows or if you’re sticking to conventional freehand methods?
