1. Bearings generally use kerosene or gasoline as cleaning fluid.

2. Separate the washing tank into rough washing and fine washing, and put a metal mesh on the bottom of the tank to prevent the bearing from directly contacting the dirt in the washing tank.

3. In the rough washing tank, try to avoid rotating the bearing, use a brush to roughly remove the dirt attached to the bearing surface, and then put it in the fine washing tank.

4. In the fine washing tank, gently move the bearing to clean it. The cleaning oil in the fine washing tank must always be kept clean.

As an important component of the bearing, the cage has a very large use effect. During the bearing use, the cage often appears damaged, which will seriously affect the use effect of the bearing, and even cause the bearing to be completely damaged and unusable. According to our understanding, Eric Bearing Limited will share some common damages related to TIMKEN bearing cages.

Common damages to TIMKEN bearing cages include:

    1. The cage damage includes cage deformation, breakage and wear:

    2. Breakdown of the column:

    3. Deformation of the end face:

    4. Wear of concave surface:

    5. Wear of guide surface:

Common causes of damage to TIMKEN bearing cage are:

    1. Poor installation (non-linearity of the bearing).

    2. Poor use.

    3. Large moment load.

    4. Large shock and vibration.

    5. If the speed is too high, it accelerates and decelerates rapidly.

    6. Poor lubrication.

    7. The temperature rises.

    1. Why do bearings have thrust clearance and expansion clearance?

    A) Metal materials have the properties of thermal expansion and cold contraction. When the shaft is operated at different temperature conditions, the length and diameter of the shaft will also change.

Therefore, in order to ensure the formation of pressure oil film of thrust bearing, thrust clearance must be left.

    B) In order to ensure that the shaft will not be hindered or restricted in the expansion process, resulting in great stress and damage to the bearing, an expansion gap must be left.

    2. How to measure the top clearance between split bearing cover and bearing with lead wire method?

    A) Place the lead wire near the bolt hole and along the arc length direction of the bearing top in the joint surface of the bearing seat and bearing cover.

    B) Install the upper cover and tighten the bolts evenly diagonally.

Remove the bearing cover and use the outside diameter micrometer to measure the thickness of each wire.

    C) Subtract the average thickness of the lead wire at the outer ring of the bearing from the average thickness of the bonding plane of the bearing seat. If the difference is positive, it is the clearance, and the negative value is the tightening force.

    Measurably better with X-life

Considerable potential for increased functionality, economy and reliability in industrial applications is being released thanks to continuous development of rolling bearings, plain bearings and linear guidance systems. X-life is the seal of quality used by Schaeffler for products which have a considerably longer rating and operating life due to their increased basic dynamic load ratings in applications where the load and design envelope are identical. This extends maintenance intervals which leads to an improvement in “Total Cost of Ownership” and an increase in the reliability of the drive or the machine. Alternatively, the increased basic load ratings allow the bearing load to be increased without any detriment to the operating life. Or the customer can use a smaller rolling bearing. This results in a more compact, lighter design. A reduction in friction and noise levels are further reasons to use X- life bearings.

New bearing design – toroidal roller bearing FAG-TORB in X-life quality

Schaeffler is presenting a new bearing design at the 2015 Hannover Messe with its FAG TORB toroidal roller bearing. This is a roller bearing with angular adjustment in X-life quality. It combines the angular adjustment capabilities of a spherical roller bearing with the axial displacement of a cylindrical or needle roller bearing. TORB bearings allow the operational reliability and cost-effectiveness of locating/non-locating bearing supports to be significantly increased. In addition to steel and rolling mills, the main areas of application also include belt and conveyor systems, paper machines (e.g. in drying cylinders), drives in marine applications, turbomachinery used in power generation (e.g. in ventilators), textile machinery, crushers, food processing machines, and agricultural machinery.

The global megatrends of mobility and ?Industrie 4.0“ as well as the associated further development of rolling bearings, plain bearings and linear guidance systems in terms of loading, operating life and power density are the main features of Schaeffler AG’s Industrial division’s presence at the Hannover Messe 2015. In addition to the perennial themes of increasing performance, economy and energy efficiency, the subjects of sensors, actuators and networking as well as continuous condition monitoring are key focus points in product development. “The drive components with integrated sensor technology and smart actuators we are presenting in Hannover are a prerequisite for networking machinery and plant as well as for the control of autonomous processes in our customers’ value added chain,” according to Robert Schullan, member of the Executive Board at Schaeffler AG and President of Schaeffler Industrial.

    Mobility for Tomorrow

Environmentally friendly drives, urban and inter-urban mobility and the broad subject of energy are the specific focus points of Schaeffler’s “Mobility for Tomorrow” strategy. As development partner and global supplier to the automotive and industrial sectors, Schaeffler has a detailed knowledge of drive train systems in both vehicles and industrial applications. Schaeffler’s strength lies in its breadth of knowledge which covers not only the automotive sector but all other types of urban and interurban mobility such as two-wheeled transport, rail and aviation. In the field of energy, Schaeffler is working as a development partner for the generation of conventional and renewable energy as well as the most efficient possible use of applied energy through products with minimum friction. “When it comes to ‘Mobility for Tomorrow’, energy-efficient, cost-effective, and durable components for engines, transmissions, and chassis play a major role when it comes to India’s growing market for two- wheel vehicles, for example. Schaeffler is making a significant contribution to reductions in consumption and emissions as well as to increasing reliability, robustness and economy” says Mr. Schullan.

Smart actuators: Innovative screw drives for electromagnetic linear actuators

Schaeffler is presenting a new design and new operating principle to expand its range of spindles by introducing a screw drive with particularly high load carrying capacity and power density. The PWG planetary screw drive is paving the way towards “smart actuators”: extremely high efficiency electromagnetic linear actuators with minimum space requirement. Applications and initial projects can be found in areas like mirror tracking systems in the solar power sector, azimuth adjustment systems in the wind power sector, feed units for sheet metal forming in the mechanical engineering sector, in sheet metal bending machines, in locking cylinders for plastic injection molding machines, in riveting and cutting devices, and in adhesive metering systems. The PWG range is also already being used in the automotive industry in clutch actuators.

Euromac, a global specialist in the design and manufacture of punching and bending machines, is benefitting from NSK ball screws, linear guides and bearings in two high-profile recent projects. In fact, Euromac has been taking advantage of NSK motion control technology since 1995 as part of a long-standing and highly successful partnership.

From its headquarters in Italy, Euromac tailors machines to meet demanding customer requirements; the combination of state-of-the-art technologies and unique concepts assures users of advanced, productive and competitive products at all times. Continuous improvement and innovation is a core company ethos and represents the reason why Euromac has been able to expand its worldwide presence and achieve impressive growth since its formation in 1986.

Among the latest Euromac machines to benefit from NSK motion control technologies are: the FX Bend 2550 new-generation electric press brake with 50 or 60 tonne press force, 2550 mm bend length and six-axis back-gauge; and the new-generation XT punching machine (hydraulic, hybrid or electric) with 1500 x 3000 mm capacity and a new reinforced frame. In both applications, NSK is the main supplier of ball screws, linear guides and bearings.

The Euromac XT sets the bar for innovation in the punching machine arena by being available in hydraulic, hybrid and electric variants. In each type, Euromac uses a different way of moving the main punching axis. In the electric version, for example, the technology holds its own patent. Here, acceleration of 90 m/s2 and stroke of sometimes less than 10 mm, means that impact load is a constant issue. With this thought in mind, there is a clear need for high-performance, robust and reliable linear motion products. For the main punching axis on the electric Euromac XT, NSK therefore proposed its HTF SRD series ball screw with S1 ball spacers featuring grease-retaining attributes. These ball screws also make use of a special material named Tough Steel. Providing the perfect complement to the HTF SRD ball screw is the RA series linear guide with high acceleration capability.HTF SRD ball screws take advantage of an innovative end deflector recirculation system to achieve ultra-high speeds of up to 3 m/s, offering shorter cycle times and higher productivity to end users. Importantly, this high-load ball screw ensures good rotational balance, with no run-out of recirculation components, while the optimised (smooth) ball circulation methodology reduces noise by half compared with conventional systems.
